Enrichment For Your Dog

There are many ways we can enrich our dogs lives, exercise is a crucial aspect of this. Living in Taipei though and the weather we face sometimes its not easy, so here are some ways to do this indoors too.

DIY Snuffle Mat

Snuffle Mats are an excellent way to keep your dog occupied, it encourages them to use their nose, you can feed them their kibble dinners in it too. If you don’t want to buy one this video shows you how you can make one very easily.

DIY Snuffle Ball

The Snuffle ball is very similar to the snuffle mat, but like all dog toys variety is important. If you change the toy regularly it stops the dog mastering one technique.

DIY Tug Toy

I regularly make tug toys for my dogs as part of their scent training, but its also good fun for them to have a change of toy, and you don’t need to spend a fortune replacing toys.

Lick Mats

I think all dog owners should use lick mats, it’s a nice easy way to get your dog to relax for half an hour to an hour. Its also an easy way to slip some healthy foods into our dogs diet.

We have a great and ever growing list of recipes and foods that work well with a lick mat here.

Cup Enrichment Toy

This is a really simple toy. You can either put the treats directly in it, or use a scent for the dog to search for. Both methods are fun for your dog.

Plastic Bottles

We all have plastic bottles in our recycling, now you would have to supervise your dog with this item so they don’t break bits off and hurt themselves. But its a great example of how we can easily and simply make our dogs meals more fun.
